FAQ

Common E20 questions

What is E20 petrol?

E20 is petrol blended with 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. Since April 2025 it is the standard petrol sold at fuel stations across India, replacing the earlier E10 blend. Read the full explainer →

Is my car or bike E20 compatible?

Vehicles manufactured from April 2023 onwards in India are generally E20 material-compliant, and vehicles from 2025 are E20-tuned. Vehicles made before April 2023 were designed for E10 and can still use E20 but may see lower mileage over time. Check your exact vehicle →

Does E20 reduce mileage?

Ethanol carries less energy than petrol, so E20 can reduce fuel economy. ARAI / government-cited testing is typically about 1-6% (sometimes cited as 2-6%). Some owner surveys self-report larger drops - those are voluntary and unverified, not official fleet findings. Estimate your own impact →

Does using E20 void my warranty or insurance?

Indian authorities, insurers and the auto industry body SIAM have clarified that using E20 petrol does not void your vehicle warranty or invalidate your motor insurance. See the details →

Can I still buy pure petrol (E0) or E10 in India?

As of now, E20 is the standard petrol at regular pumps nationwide. The government has ruled out parallel E0/E10 supply at scale, citing logistics and cost. This is a key reason owners are asking for choice.
